As it started getting light, our hearts started sinking as we saw how horrible the swell was. This was going to be a very tricky launch.
The conditions were terrible, and those who didn't make it out, you didn't miss much. There was dirty water on top and a thermocline, with ice-cold water on the bottom, the great vis at the bottom didn't help either. Its a rather depressing story, although others still managed to get some fish. Kevin got a nice Queenie of 10kg. Colin got three much debated Sangora/Amberjack/Tropical Yellowtail. Still to be confirmed. Ben Bucher also got a small Couta.
That was all unfortunately all the fish that came out.
Prize giving was held and Kevin decided to take the watch, Colin took the wet-suit, and Ben took the Rail-gun.
There was a lot of left over Prizes, these prizes will be kept for the next comp, hopefully the weather will play along, so watch this space, the next competition will be soon :)
I must say a big thanks to Allen Heydorn for letting us use his house again, it was great to have all the guys around again. Once again to all the sponsors, Cliff, with the really great shirts! Andre for the watch, Johan for the wetsuit, Billy from Macs Fish & Chips for the Cash Prize. Dirks Butchery in DBN for the other cash prize.
Blondie for being such a machine, getting some big dollars.
